The search is on

The search is on. I am back on it. And it feels great! Finally, the weather turned better, and I decided to go out with the camera. My search for crooked tree continues. The last time I was here was a few weeks back. I explored part of the forest below Curbar Edge in the Peak District National Park. The trip was good, but it did not yield many results. I was excited to see what I could find today. This time, I decided to start at the top of the edge and walk along to the place where Froggat Edge starts, then descend to the forest below.

At the top of the Curbar Edge, I was greeted with strong wind. I did not expect that to be honest. First stop – a pretty popular photography location with an old millstone. I wanted to make an exposure as clouds were quite dramatic. Wind was quite challenging, and struggling with the dark cloth was real. 🙂

Have a look at my wrestling match with the wind:

I did a second exposure on the top of the edge; this time, it was so windy that I was not sure if I had a picture. I was not able to properly see my ground glass, and the camera was shaking from the wind. Then I descended to the forest and started my search. It is not easy; the undergrowth is quite unforgiving, and I ended up with properly scratched legs. But that’s the price for our art, I guess. After some time, I settled for the first shot. Below is my first attempt to put a 360-degree picture into the blog page. I am not exactly happy with the compression, but I leave it here anyway.

Time to go back

Then, as the day progressed, I did another 3 shots. All on expired Ilford FP4 shot @ISO 50. The plan is to process negatives with 510 Pyro developer. I tested it before, and I like this combination of negative (very expired) and developer. Not surpassingly started to rain and I called it a day. All in all, a great day out with the camera. I hope for some results. Hope you are too. I will keep you posted. Do you have any locations where you think I can find my definitive crooked tree?

Let me know below !

And as a bonus 🙂
